Brad was a self-employed sign writer until a stroke forced him to retire. He started watercolour painting and joined the Scarborough Art Guild. He took some art courses with Jackie Ohora. He then joined the ECOAA. Studying under Charles Spratt at the Bridgewater Retreat. 

Brad is mainly self- taught. In 2000 he moved to Peterborough and joined the Outdoor Painters of the Kawartha Artists' Gallery and Studio.
