I am a Canadian artist whose images portray the beauty of flowers, the tranquility of evening sunsets and visions of Ontario landscapes. I capture these in watercolour and mixed media in a semi-realistic style. I have journeyed though out Ontario and have documented some of these natural wonders on site. Evident in my paintings is my love of gardening and nature; I am trying to connect people to our landscape and community. I have therefore, donated many original works of art to local charitable organizations such as O.R.C.A., Hutchinson House, Festival of Trees, St. Joseph’s at Fleming and Peterborough Symphony Orchestra. This is my way of recognizing our community. I was born in Cornwall, Ontario, however, have lived in Peterborough since the early 1940’s. I attended several public schools, followed by high school at Kenner and PCVS. After which I was offered a drafting apprentice ship at C.G.E., later transferring into product & design engineering. Forty two years later I retired and decided to pursue a life long interest in art. Hence I am self taught, but have taken many workshops from notable artists, including David Bierk, Edwin Matthews & Bryan Atyeo. My art has been displayed at juried shows including the prestigious Buckhorn Fine Art Festival, Peterborough Rotary Art Shows Kawartha Artist Gallery, Westport, and Cobourg & Fenelon Falls Shows. I am married to my wife Patricia for forty-seven years. We are blessed with three children, and five grand children who all live in Toronto. As far as creating a piece of art is concerned, I would say that as I am working on a project (in the solitude of my workshop with my classical music playing), the mood, which is serene and peaceful, seems to be almost spiritual and when finished, I am amazed at what I have accomplished. Because I did not start my painting full time until my retirement, I recommend to all budding artists, study and read as much as possible because it is never too late to start a creative journey” Thank you for taking this journey with me "Attitude" " Lupines" |
