I am amazed when I think that I have been a textile artist for 65 years! Yes,
I have to admit that at age 5 I was finding old pieces of cloth and string to
make clothing and bedding for my doll friends. That lead into sewing and
embellishing with crewel stitch work on jackets for myself. Throughout my
teens I designed knits for ski sweaters and hats and later studied tailoring.
In the late 70’s, through to the early 90’s, I taught a wide range of
textile-related subjects in Colorado and Northern California including paper
making as an art form and dyeing with natural and synthetic dyes.
Loom controlled sculpture started to emerge in my art and I began producing
very large pieces of work for corporate art, banks and private offices. I
also developed a hand-painted line of silk evening clothing. Last winter I
spent 3 months at a studio in Boulder Colorado where I started the process of
finding my new walk in textiles. This show is a statement of the new growth
out of the old.
Life is my teacher. I feel my art is the connection of space between two
worlds; the exploration of past, the inspiration of the present and the vision
of the future.

"TEXTILE SCULPTURES AND BEYOND"
During the past winter, after
working in a studio in
Boulder,
Colorado, I started
the process of finding a new direction in my growth as a textile artist while
still remaining connected to the important parts of my past in textiles. This
show represents the beginning of new explorations into the fibre world.
