JOHN McCALLUM In 1953, my family emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland and moved to London, Ontario. My first memory of an interest in art was during public school, when I entered and won a city wide art competition. I still possess this award. Watercolour was the first medium that I attempted and am still satisfied with the final product. Painting flowers became my first passion as they were abundant in my garden. Bringing out the natural glow of each flower is what drives my pursuit for excellence. About 1995, I began painting as a hobby. Gradually, I developed my skill in Watercolour painting until I felt confident to enter the Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival’s Competition. My hard work paid off as I won first prize in the “Watercolour Competition”, in 2000; and first prize in the “Open Competition”, in the 2001, season. During the last few years, I have branched out into painting landscapes and animal portraits. Recently, I have enjoyed painting and completing several animal commissions. to call for a Studio Tour or Animal Portrait. email kags
