PHYLLIS KIRK Born in Montreal, Phyllis spends her working time between her Ennismore, ON and Montreal, QC studios. She studied painting and drawing at the ateliers of H. Heimlich, A. Bazak and the Saidye Bronfman School for the Arts before going on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Concordia University. She is a member of RAAV-le Regroupement des Artistes en Arts Visuels du Quebec and The Kawartha Artists Gallery. She took part in juried Emma Lake Artists Workshop in Saskatchewan, and in 2006 in "Les Femmeuses 20" Pratt and Whitney Canada in Longueuil,QC. In 2007 Phyllis was selected as first runner-up in best -of -show at KAGS. From 1994-2000 she was represented by the Dominion Gallery in Montreal. Phyllis has this life long fascination with the human form, always exploring it’s endless possibilities. Whether with painting and drawing materials or collage and found objects, she often combines the different media. Her work has evolved from the yoga-inspired meditative quality to a more lively playful form. Her most recent body of work with mannequins evoke a feeling of fun and fashion. Her work can be found in both public and private collections, including those of, Concordia University, Cote St. Luc Library, Montreal Children's Hospital and Elite Productions in Montreal.
