Greenland Ice Formation I

Lucie Lemieux-Wilson

“I can’t seem to satisfy my thirst for nature. It is also my main source of inspiration when I paint so I take every opportunity to immerse myself in nature”.

Daily walks in the country side surrounding my home, cycling, frequent canoe trips in the wilderness of Northern Ontario, and numerous trips across our Canadian landscape and abroad have allowed me to focus on those unique elements in nature that capture my interest. Through observation and personal interpretation, I am able to create art pieces that satisfy my need to use bold colors and simplified shapes.

Since moving to Peterborough with my family, I have attended numerous art classes at SSFC and workshops by well-known artists such as Lila Lewis-Irving, Brian Smith and Bryan Atyeo. I also had the opportunity to be mentored by well-known local artists, Roberta Rowland-Patterson and Neil Broadfoot.

I have participated in many solo and group exhibitions as well as various juried shows. My work was also shown at a private gallery in Montreal and was included in the Art Rental and Sales Service at the Art Gallery in Peterborough. Art pieces are also found in many private collections in Canada and abroad.

I have been a member of the Kawartha Artists Gallery & Studio for many years. Through KAGS, I have been able to meet other artists and attend many workshops that have greatly enriched my experience as an artist.

Water color and fluid acrylics are my main media.

My home and studio are on the Indian River.
