Phyllis Kirk engages a diversity of themes in her painting, mixed media and assemblage creations. Inspired by the human form, icons of art history, travel and other life experiences, she moves easily back and forth between both figurative and abstract approaches. Rooted in the Montreal arts scene, Phyllis Kirk recently made the transition to lakeside life in the beautiful Kawarthas District of southern Ontario. Please enjoy the diverse galleries and retrospectives that illuminate over thirty years of Phyllis Kirk’s productive artistic journey.
There you sit…blank…staring colourless
waiting for me to put my touch to you
silent…not knowing…whether I will attack your space
with anger and remorse or happiness and calm
but I say whichever way I touch you…
it will be with honesty
I begin by allowing my wandering mind
to colour you until forms appear
what joy I take in the appearance of the subconscious
now…staring back at me…in deep calm.
